Gilt Bronze Planter with Onyx Column

Period: ca. Late 19th – early 20th century this decorative planter is a unique piece. The gold metal planter is supported by a yellowish/off-white onyx column, which rests on a rococo-inspired gilded bronze foot. The foot has been weighted for stability; it's a heavy piece. The planter has holes in the bottom. This may have been used as an ashtray holder or plant holder in the past. Condition: good. Aged patina and thinning of the gilding. Dimensions: 56.5 cm high, base 19 X 19 cm, pot diameter 11.5 cm, 5 kg.
