Description
Very rare pair of easy chairs, designed by esteemed industrial designer norman bel geddes (usa 1893-1958) around the 1950s. Geddes was one of the first industrial designers. In his book ‘horizons’ (1932) he describes his design philosophy of streamlining which resulted in the eponymous design style of the 1930s. These slipper chairs are a wonderful example of his style executed in furniture design. The thick original seats and backrests are teardrop-shaped, a form he believed was superior. Resting on four tapered, conical legs. The design is simplistic with sharp lines. A rare original set in neutral tones which will elevate any space! Dimensions: w59 X d79 X h81cm. Period: 1950s. Condition: very good and original.
