African wall basket. Description. These baskets are woven in rwanda. They are the result of ancestral know-how that is transmitted from mother to daughter. They can be used as much as a basket for storing, or as a wall display. They are made from sisal and sweet grass. The colors are made with natural dyes, for example with dyes from dried tea leaves. This average basket is 25 cm in diameter and 8 cm deep. This basket is supplied with a hook to be able to attach it to the wall. The largest have a width of between 40 and 45 cm in diameter. The average baskets are about 30 cm in diameter. The smallest is 15-20 cm in diameter. Craftsmen work 1-2 days to weave a small basket, 2-3 days to weave a medium basket and 5-7 days to weave a large basket. How to take care of them: dust them lightly and regularly to keep the shine of the colors. Do not display them in direct sunlight as this can make the colors disappear over time. Keep away from moisture, as this can cause mold. Keep away from heat sources as they can dry out the fibers.
