Malle Moynat

Here is a pearl for those who love beautiful trunks and even, here, collectibles. This old trunk stamped 'moynat' is all wooden, covered with a coated and waxed canvas, as was practiced at the time to protect during travels, including bad weather. It features period brass fittings, authentic stamped and genuine leather fasteners. Placed on 4 wheels that work, it is in itself a memory of a time when luxury trunks, such as vuitton and of course the famous moynat, were recognized among the oldest trunk companies. Founded in 1849, (baptized by pauline moynat in 1876), it is place de l'opéra that the brand will find the showcase of its successes. The name of these luxury objects quickly associated with the first cars, but is now also confused with successive universal exhibitions. This very old domed trunk has period handles, a compartmentalized interior with the removable shelf for lingerie in particular, and the whole is dressed in a period canvas barely tainted by time. This bulging trunk that has stood the test of time (as evidenced by some logical signs) breathes history and would certainly testify, if it could, to so many stories and journeys. It most likely belongs to the a series of trunks with beds reputed to be very robust. These domed trunks for ladies had indeed two frames and a movable separation at the bottom for hats. That is what our model presents. Later, other dressings, other materials, and even new lines will modernize the aesthetics of these travel trunks, designed for horse-drawn travel, but now dedicated to our decorations and interior storage. The curved line no longer fights the rain, but it offers a silhouette that flatters the eye and gives consistency to our designs.
