Description
Superb Art Dec bureau, model 3425, by Gilbert Rohde for American company Herman Miller. Rohde was an American furniture and industrial designer whose work helped define American Modernism. Produced in the 1930s as part of a ground breaking range of furniture that was influenced by his trips to Europe and also reflected American Streamline Modern design, the bureau is veneered in East India Laurel on the outside with a satinwood interior, nickle plated handle and ebonised detail. It features a drop down desk with pull out slope containing compartments and drawer with a cabinet and more drawers below. The item has been refinished and is generally in very good condition with the odd sign of wear and tear and a few cosmetic repairs.
