Description
Large cup of flygsfors model "shell" designed by paul kedelv (1917-1990), in pink and white multilayer glass in a gangue of transparent crystal. Very good condition (inlay in the upper part of a thin bubble not very visibly). Bibliography: "fifties glass" by leslie pina p 131. Incised signature below shell flygsfors, dated 58. Height 13cm. Length 33cm. Width 20cm. About... Flygsfors. Flygsfors glassworks was founded in sweden in 1888 by ernst wiktor lundqvist and august zeitz. The company changed hands several times and started manufacturing tableware in 1930 under the name ab flygsfors glasbruk. Willem g. De moor became artistic director of flygsfors in 1939, and paul kedelv joined him in 1949 after working at orrefors. Among paul kedelv's creations for flygsfors, his best known is by far the coquille range. Flygsfors was purchased by orrefors in 1974 and closed in 1979.
