Description
Moulded glass cut by pierre d'avesn, france 1930s. D'avesn (1901-1990) real name pierre girre. Pierre d'avesn was a pupil of françois decorchement at the school of decorative arts. He moved to lalique where he stayed for 10 years. He worked at daum between 1930 and 1936 where he developed the production of pressed moulded glasses in the production department signed lorrain nancy. He joined verlys in 1937 in the hollophane glass department at the andelys glassworks. After 1945 he was found at the cristallerie de choisy le roi, where he reissued old models and created new ones. He remained there until his retirement in 1984. Considered the elite of the last glassmakers of the art deco era, he died in paris at the age of 90.
