Description
Sublime portrait in oil on canvas, dated from the 19th century (1867 ), signed elisa drojat in the left middle of the canvas. It is remarkably painted. The period frame is made of gilded wood with gold leaf. The painting still has the number 834 of its exhibition in may 1868 at the palais des champs elysees. The label is glued to the wood of the frame. The subject is mrs. Drojat, mother of the painter elisa drojat. The latter, born in lyon, was a pupil of the famous painter léon cogniet (who himself taught painting to edgar degas). A similar portrait is on display at the museum of ursulines in mâcon. It is very good general condition, note: a thin stripe at the top left in the black part, a small shard of paint at the bottom right, some dirt in the dark parts. All the details are visible in the photos! Total dimensions: 73 cm high X 64 cm wide / 5.5 cm deep. Weight: 5.5 kg. This rather exceptional portrait will be beautiful in a living room or bedroom, or above a beautiful marble fireplace!.
