This carpet is a beni ouarain, it bears the name of its region of provenance. The beni ouarain inhabit the north-west of the middle atlas massif, south of the moroccan rif. Among the beni ouarain, weaver families have always passed on their know-how from generation to generation in the purest tradition. Living off their livestock, the beni ouarain tribes shear the wool of their herd with scissors once the climate softens in spring. This wool is known for its superior quality. It is worked in a traditional way according to a set of centuries-old practices and rituals. The sheep live freely in the mountains and are treated with great respect. Entirely handmade by women, on wooden looms, a carpet takes several weeks to make. This product is handcrafted and may have imperfections.
