The planter is in very good condition, no accidents, cracks or chips. However, it is worth noting a tiny defect on the outer edge of the circumference the size of a pinhead, and visible in one of the detail photos. I don't know if it's a tiny chip or an enamelling defect... An old lack also under the base, very flat, visible in the detail photos. The ceramic is very well made, heavy and opulent, with a beautiful matte milky white enamel enhanced with brushwork motifs in shades of brown and green, depicting in a large frieze imaginary animals, a sort of chimera, interspersed with interlacing. These are probably motifs inspired by the bayeux tapestries. The ceramic is marked on the reverse, with a brush in black ink, "decor hands", followed by the initials of the artist who created the decoration. This piece comes from the earthenware factory of saint-pair-sur-mer, in the bay of mont-saint-michel, created in the 1950s by pierre lucas, originally from the region, and who named it neustricer. Pierre lucas was a qualified engineer from the national higher institute of industrial ceramics. Sèvre, and related to victor lucas, a great ceramist also graduated from the same great school, well known as the creator of the keraluc earthenware workshops in quimper. Very beautiful, generous format. Very beautiful quality french artisanal production from the 60s.
