80s Antonia Astori ‘kroma’ table for Driade

This kroma side table is in very good condition consistent with age and use. Kroma table lack of brandmarks and are rare memphis style tables. Because of low production numbers most tables have no brandmark. Antonia astori was born in milan, astori graduated from the athenaeum of lausanne in 1966, with a focus in industrial and visual design. She cofounded driade in 1968, together with her brother enrico and adelaide acerbi. In addition to designing furniture, she played the role of project coordinator, getting to build a unique network of furniture design, exhibitions and stores. She designed the forerunner containment systems oikos and pantos. To those systems, antonia astori combines the design of individual pieces in which the sense of living is always the core. In this spirit, she designed aforismi, the san souci collection and, later, virginia writing desk and eileen bookcase. In the oikos, astori’s earliest and — one of her most notable — collections for driade, brought rich geometry by way of modular storage solutions inspired by architecture to interiors everywhere in 1972. In the 1983 astori designed the kroma table also as a modular system, she offered is as a table on a memphis style foot or as writing desks in several options to combine. In addition to working as a designer within her company, astori also serves as project coordinator — overseeing the development and progress of new driade product lines. She has also worked on driade’s visual identity and branding. Over the course of her long history at the company, astori has had the pleasure of partnering with many notable architects and designers.
