Description
Neo-classical coffee table made by Jean Maurice Rothschild (1902-1998) circa 1950. Renowned designer and craftsman, he studied at the Boulle school in Paris in 1917, created the decor for the Eiffel Tower restaurant in 1937 and designed the furniture from the Normandy liner among others. This original rectangular table is topped with a beautiful light green marble forming sea foam with a groove around its edge. This is embedded in a guilloché iron surround with a hook. This set is based on a solid metal structure ending in large concave fan-shaped legs. Each leg is decorated with large, intriguing figures supporting the table with their backs. Smiling, they sit cross-legged and are dressed in traditional costume. On each side, we find large iron scrolls accompanied by a falling round ring. Rare and massive table, this creation by Jean Maurice Rothschild will attract attention with its singularity. Period: 1950. Excellent condition. Dimensions: Height: 50 cm. Width: 98 cm. Depth: 54 cm.
