Wardrobe umbrella holder in cast iron, by a. Corneau, brothers charleville – late nineteenth. Important to check the stamp on possible other proposal. Large coat rack of art nouveau period in cast iron composed of 7 hooks and a mirror, signed alfred corneau (1825-1886) brothers charleville and bearing the number 15. The corneau brothers, ironmasters, created in 1846 a foundry company – frères charleville – specializing in the-1 oreal cast iron, as well as that of the first domestic objects of comfort. Copied around the world, the talented alfred corneau designed creations combining aesthetics and know-how. This umbrella-carrying wardrobe, a souvenir of a certain art of living, presents a single hook at the top and six double hooks on its sides, perfect for hanging hats, jackets and coats. In the center, an oval mirror surrounded by a garland of pearls tilts at will. Embellished with floral ornamentations, the elegantly shaped backsplash is surmounted by a basket of carved flowers. The lower part forms a large umbrella holder. The arabesques mingle with the leaves up to the oblong base decorated with flowers and equipped with a white cast iron tray. This quality coat rack signed alfred corneau will dress an entrance or a vestibule in a unique way. ******** Period: late nineteenth. Perfect condition.
