Old Damchiya - Carved Indian furniture n°54

Indian sideboard carved in solid wood. The damchiya was the traditional chest containing the dowry that the Indian bride took with her to settle with her husband. It was made at the request of the bride's family, in preparation for the wedding. Each piece is therefore unique! Traditionally these sideboards are painted in bright colors. This was stripped to give it a touch of modernity. You can find more information about damchiya on our blog. This is a vintage, second-hand piece, traces of use are present, which contributes to its uniqueness and charm.
