Presenting a stunning vintage cha tansu or japanese tea chest. This tea chest features numerous drawers and storage compartments and is composed of two parts. There is also a "display section" enclosed by two large glass sliding doors, inside of which you'll find a beautifully organic-shaped étagère and a storage space with curved sliding doors. The backside of the interior is elegantly finished with a wooden decorative frame. This chest is a magnificent example of japanese craftsmanship, with particular attention given to the wooden joinery, where no nails or screws were used. Dimensions: height 174.5 cm, width 105.5 cm, depth 38.5 cm. The cabinet is in very good condition, with normal signs of aging. On the back of the cabinet, there is still a manufacturer's label present. Cha tansu, also known as chabitsu or chagama tansu, is specifically designed for storing and displaying tea utensils and equipment used in the japanese tea ceremony. "cha" refers to tea, and "tansu" means chest or storage.
