“jackson to jean michel” by daniel vernhettes lyrical abstraction from 1986, a jackson pollock-style movement and basquiat-style colors. From jazz to painting. A universe of creation without limits. Oil on canvas, baguette frame. 89 X 116 cm daniel vernhettes was born in paris in 1942. After lycée montaigne, he studied typography and graphic arts at the école estienne. From 1962 he worked as a typographer and letterpress printer, then as a linotypist in printing houses and newspapers. Having become a photocomposer, he worked at le matin de paris, then became a page editor at the herald tribune. Trumpeter and conductor, he has participated in more than a thousand concerts in europe and new orleans and recorded numerous records. Passionate about music, he wrote several works on jazz, cuban music and mexican music. He has been drawing since he was very young, and began painting in 1959. Today he paints on paper, wood, and canvas, mainly using printing inks and tube colors. His pictorial research consists of playing between geometric compositions and freer compositions in which improvisation plays a large part. It is also said that some of his works are like some of his recordings.
