Oval mirror Napoleon III

Period: ca. 1850-1890. This pretty mirror has a wide and thick oval frame in a typical napoleon III style. The underlying wooden frame is covered with a kind of stucco plaster which is then carved and/or embossed with intricate patterns that are gilded, while the background is blackened. The mirror has a bead frieze around the inner edge. Mirror glass has oxidation stains. The glass doesn't look like glass on the fingerboard, although it really looks like an old ice cream; I did not open it from the back so as not to cause unnecessary damage to the item, but it is possible that the old mirror was covered by an acrylic protection. The setting is clearly of old construction; the joints are visible where the rounded pieces of wood meet. State: Good. Tarnishing stains on what may be a replacement glass (see above). The joints are noticeable. There is a small area with a lack of the plaster layer (see photo). Dimensions: see photo.
