Color engraving representing the portrait of nicolas, boileau despreaux, engraved by alix pierre michel (1762 -1817) from a painting rigault nicolas boileau despreaux was a man of letters, one of the great authors of the 17th century, born in 1636 died in 1711. He was also the historiographer of king louis xiv, friend of molière and la rochefoucauld. Very well known for his collection of poetry, his satires in 1666. Color engraving in a gilded and glazed wooden frame. The engraving is in good condition with, at the bottom right, a small trace of wear on the paper and a few traces (see the numerous photos). Very decorative, it will easily be placed anywhere and will add a touch of charm and originality to your room. Size: h 34 cm, l 27 cm, d2 cm.
