Old door with decorative Art Nouveau painting

Old solid wood door, from a 17th century building, in Le Beaucet in Vaucluse. The village attracted artists already in the 19th century. In the 1960s, Jacques Chapiro, a close friend of Marc Chagall, chose to set up his workshop there. An international arts school "Les Ateliers du Beaucet" will be established in the 1990s. The decor was painted at the beginning of 1900, it has the characteristics of art nouveau, a pattern of colored interlacing in outline, an arch in arabesque shape with a painting in the center representing an orange tree and its roots.
