Period: this. 1900-1914 a small art nouveau vase decorated with holly and stylized swirls in low relief. This vase is made of gallia metal which is a copper-tin alloy used as the base metal for silver plating. This metal was invented by the alfenide (goat's mark) factory, a subsidiary of christofle. Gallia wares were an economical alternative to the more luxurious white metal wares produced by christofle, and they were marketed under the name orvèrerie gallia (gallic rooster hallmark) to distinguish the two types of wares. The hallmarks and model number date this piece to the art nouveau period of the early 20th century. Condition: good. No damage. Aged patina. Dimensions: 15 cm high, 5.5 cm base diameter, 127 g.
