French empire style secretary/desk in solid cherry veneered oak, renovated, patinated with rust and black effect then carefully waxed. Former secretary transformed into a desk, this box is refined and linear, with a multitude of compartments. It features a top secret drawer projecting above the theater with two openings under arches and a series of narrow drawers (three of which can be blocked with a concealed pull), suitable for documents or trinkets. The lower part offers a generous storage volume with its three built-in drawers. The drawers are covered with a cotton fabric printed with flowers and delicate dots. The top of the front of each drawer has been decorated with gold lettering (numbering the drawers). The dovetail style drawers, despite their large size, open easily. The original locks on the lower part are decorated with magnificent antique keyholes in the shape of a bronze floral crown from the period (with an original key). The case is framed by two elegant turned columns, enhanced with a gilded bronze border at the top and bottom of each column, the whole resting on four feet typical of the style. The office is in a good state of conservation. Light wear consistent with age and use. The piece of furniture has a history of wood-biting (the rear legs and slightly on the sides - see photo) but before its renovation, it was treated as a precaution.
