Description
Here is a very beautiful mask from Japan, probably from the Edo period without certainty, 1830-1850. Polychromy is original. This mask can be either a mask of the Noh theater or it served as a name plate (as currently for our mailboxes). These masks were executed with the effigy of the master of the place. In every city and village in Japan a craftsman was specialized in their creation. This one is particularly expressive. For the condition, we report friction, wear on the polychromy, stucco lack especially on the nose and the perimeter at the bottom, a hole on the top with what seems to be a poorly executed restoration, the whole is visible in the photos. However this mask remains in a correct general condition. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. Sold unaffected. For the state thank you to detail the photos. Feel free to zoom in. Photos are an integral part of the description. Size: Height: 12.5 cm Width: 10.5 cm M773
