Louis XVI style dressing table

This pretty dressing table combines both the beauty of a superbly crafted mahogany veneer on solid oak and elegantly inlaid work. The marquetry is also superb and discreet. The finesse and precision of the work are remarkable. This louis XVI style dressing table opens with a lockable central flap (key present) and two side flaps accessible only after opening the middle one. They are, on top, all three inlaid in discreet friezes, framed with fillets of varied colors. The interior is made up of 3 distinct compartments, left, center and right. The central flap is fitted with a framed mirror that can move forward or back to the edges of the furniture and thus adjust to whoever is looking at it. Under the central compartment, there is a zipper covered in green leather decorated with a frieze, then below again, a new drawer also inlaid and decorated with a button for opening. On the right, the second drawer opens under the compartment and the sides of the furniture are obviously identically inlaid. One of the two, on the left, is a trompe-l'oeil. This very pretty dressing table (early 20th century) rests on 4 straight, tapered legs decorated with pretty bronze shoes. It also offers multiple possibilities for places in the house as varied as a bedroom, an entrance, an office, a living room... Depending on your uses and your tastes!.
