Pair of 2-light sconces in louis XVI style, from the end of the 19th century. Attributed to ferdinand barbedienne, creator and director of a famous 19th century french art foundry. Present at all the universal exhibitions of its time, maison barbedienne was regularly distinguished by awards, notably during the universal exhibition of 1855 where it received the grand medal of honor. Bronze construction. Original gilding in good condition with a nice patina of time. The sconces are decorated with acanthus leaves and scrolls. The candle holders are surrounded by a laurel wreath. The carving of the appliques is very fine, a guarantee of high quality work. Recent and tested electrical system (for e14 bulb). Cardboard candles, very good condition.
