Description
Large version of the original dark brown lacquered metal AJ Visor wall lamp, design number 33082, manufactured by Louis Poulsen in Denmark in the 1960s. It still retains the early Louis Poulsen paper labels on the reverse of the wall base. Arne Jacobsen designed the "Visor" lamp for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1957 and it was later manufactured by Louis Poulsen. The dark brown color is reputed to have been Jacobsen's favorite and as a result many of his light fixtures were originally made in this color. The angle of the shade can be adjusted to optimize light distribution. The lampshade is painted white on the inside to ensure soft and comfortable light. The first edition of these iconic lamps is recognizable by the brass hardware used for certain parts of the luminaire and the Bakelite sockets. Today, the AJ-visor lamp series is considered the design for which the Danish architect is best known worldwide. Direct from Denmark. (2 copies available)
