Description
Large art deco ceramic vase in sandstone with metallescent cover and gold casting effects on a dark brown background characteristic of the technique developed by lucien brisdoux. Lucien brisdoux (1878-1963) is a french ceramist who takes over in 1905 the manufacture of his father achille brisdoux, created in 1881 in bonny sur loire, in the loiret. After buying a pottery in saint amand in 1918, "la poterie neuve", he created his own workshop, assisted by fernand laurent (1885-1946). He devoted his production to decorative sandstone and concentrated his research on earths and glazes, taken over in particular by raoul lachenal in 1924-1925, who produced some pieces in collaboration with lucien brisdoux. He works with metal oxides and creates metallescent enamellings (gold or platinum) with casting effects obtained by projection of creosote, after application of ceramic gold. He stopped this technique in 1940 for economic reasons and sold his workshop in 1956.
