Norwegian 'Magic Box' desk by Leif Elvestad

There is no maker's mark, however, based on the advert included with the images, we believe that the magic box or metamorphic box was built by norwegian designer leif elvestad. It is similar to the magic box produced by swiss architects and designers mummenthaler & meier, though perhaps more rare. The magic box itself dates back to the mid 19th century. We have included in the images a poster advertising the item in norway dated 1967. This item not only represents a triumph in mid-century design, but also a piece of design history. It is a truly unique item! The delightfully unassuming magic box opens up into a beautiful, generously spacious, stylish and practical office, fitted with a desk, drawer, pull out shelf and series of shelving units. Once you have completed your office work, simply close one door with a latch and the second with a key.
