Tobacco pot or blue and green pencil jar in the engobe signed frie onnaing, circa 1890. Both handles are elephant heads, decorated with corn. The slip gives the pot a beautiful shiny effect. Brilliant colors. Style: majolica pottery materials and techniques: barbotine place of origin: france period: 1890-1899 the number 179 corresponds to the model of the elephant. The onnaing factory, in northern france, focuses its production on molded and decorated earth objects, commonly known as engobes, which have earned it its notoriety. These pieces, created from new models, reproduce in the form of pitchers or planters animals, characters, sometimes political, fruits or vegetables. Each model is numbered.
