Mid Century Faceted Sommerso Glass Vase by Flavio Poli for Alessandro Mandruzzato, Italy, 1960s

Mid-century modern sommerso glass vase designed by flavio poli for alessandro mandruzzato (murano, italy, 1960s). The vase is made of thick beautifully faceted dark violet, yellow and clear glass. It is extremely decorative. Mandruzzato is well-known for producing exceptional geometric and cubic-shaped art glass pieces. Height: 15.5 cm; width (base): 5 cm; depth (base): 4.5 cm. Excellent vintage condition. "sommerso" is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
