Description
Charming school painting, around 1900, representing a chevrette (female deer) and her fawns in an undergrowth, with in the distance a couple walking under the canopy of the forest. This oil on canvas, painted around 1900, is in line with the artists of the barbizon school and borrows its mysterious atmosphere from the symbolist school. It measures 54 X 81 cm, and 101 X 75 cm with its frame, very pretty golden empire style frame. On the reverse of the canvas, we recognize the color merchant's stamp "canvas & fine colors. L. Aube sucer".
