Beautiful and important japanese lamp in satsuma porcelain and gilded bronze from the 19th century. The body of the lamp is made of satsuma porcelain, the background is purple in color. There are 4 characters: two mothers dressed in traditional japanese clothes, accompanied by two children. The set is decorated with maple leaves, with a golden finish. The base is made of gilded bronze and richly chiseled. The feet are shaped like an elephant's head. Transformed into a lamp at the beginning of the twentieth century, this vase has a removable leather compartment containing the electrical mechanism and serving as a support for the lampshade. Satsuma porcelain is a type of japanese porcelain born in the sixth century, during the azuchi-momoyama period. It is called ivory cast porcelain and decorated with gilded or polychrome motifs. Japan, circa 1900.
