Old basket with a jar-shaped lid (ulbung), from the philippines, (early twentieth century) Used to transport and store rice or vegetables, made by the mountaineers of northern luzon, the largest island in the philippine archipelago. A superb work of art, this basket with a coiled woven pattern comes from the ifugao region. Handmade from a spiral weave of bamboo and rattan. Dark matte black color. State: in its juice. The basket is in good condition with a beautiful patina. Exhibits some wear and tear consistent with its age and use. Small impacts on the façade. Small impacts on the base. Missing the handle. Size: H32 X d30, 17 (base), 11.5 (aperture) Cover: h4 X d13. Weight: 750 grams.
