Book ends depicting herons, in patinated metal, on a base in sea green marble. It is a work by maurice frécourt (1890-1961) who acquired fame and prestige from his participation in the salon des artistes in 1920. Known for translating the imperatives of the art deco style into his vision of the animal world, his creations have become classics of stylized animal representation. These herons are depicted straight, their beaks tucked into their feathers. With their altier port and their meticulously chiseled realization, this pair of bookends will delight lovers of this inimitable style that is art deco. ********* Period: 1920. Good condition. A few splinters on the marble. Size: Height: 13.5 cm. Width: 9 cm. Depth: 8 cm. Pair weight: 1.7 kg. Ref: 200722.
