Old Blue Glass Apothecary Jar - Tinct: Rhei

Genuine vintage pharmacy bottle in blue glass, with a cork stopper. It has a label on which it says “tinct rhei”. “tinct rhei” is an abbreviation for “tinctura rhei, ” which is latin for “tincture of rhubarb.” this preparation was used in traditional medicine for its purgative and laxative properties. Rhubarb tincture was often prescribed to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as constipation.
