Description
8 vintage white porcelain dessert plates from the gda manufacture (gérard dufraisseix & abbot) marketed in the 1900s. Each plate is decorated with sunflowers or crocuses, with a nice vegetal perimeter, and is stamped with: "gda – france" Gda is in fact, the oldest porcelain factory in limoges created in 1797, still in operation today (under the current name of royal limoges). Limoges porcelain is one of the two main porcelain productions of france, and the only one from a real production territory, located around the city of limoges in the hautes – viennes. It was in 1768 that exploitable deposits of kaolin, an essential material for the production of this ceramic, were found, and it was from this discovery that limoges porcelain was born and developed. The history of this factory includes the greatest names in limoges porcelain. First known as alluaud, the house of gérard, dufraisseix and morel, then gérard, dufraisseix & abbot, from december 26, 1900 when the american abbot became one of the partners. These beautiful cheese plates will be perfect for composing a historic table! They are also great gifts for a crockery lover of yesteryear! Good general condition, but 4 plates have small chips. D 18.5 cm. Rec-001.
