Large Mid-Century Murano Faceted Sommerso Glass Vase by Flavio Poli for Mandruzzato, Italy, 1960s

Large mid-century modern sommerso glass vase designed by flavio poli for alessandro mandruzzato (murano, italy, 1960s). The vase is made of thick grey, black and clear glass. Beautifully faceted glass. It is extremely decorative. Quite heavy (1.3 kg). Mandruzzato is well-known for producing exceptional geometric and cubic-shaped art glass pieces. Height: 20 cm; width (largest point): 9 cm; depth (largest point): 9 cm. Excellent vintage condition. "sommerso" is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
