Hello, here is an old wicker basket which was initially part of the costume of gille de binche, a colorful character who parades with his thousand peers on mardi gras, in binche, a belgian town famous for its carnival recognized in 2003, by unesco as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity. This basket was used to transport the blood oranges that he threw into the crowds gathered along the city streets during the parade, an offering that symbolizes abundance. This custom is still current. In its original state, this medium-sized copy (there are 5, the children are also called to be gilles... Like dad...) bears some traces of time visible in the photographs, it remains perfectly ready to fill the new function that your imagination will have attributed to it. Thank you for your visit.
