Description
Set of 6 vintage oyster plates m.b.f.a. Pornic. The manufacture bretonne de faïences artistique (mbfa) was created by the dryander family, earthenware makers from father to son, based in niderviller in lorraine. Fleeing their native moselle then under german occupation, they took refuge in pornic and waited until the end of the war to restart their activity. For the inhabitants of pornic, the factory represents a healthy source of employment. Future employees are sent to the manufacture de faïences de niderviller, the parent company, to be trained. With their return, piles of biscuits* arrive in wagonloads at pornic station to be decorated. Production is officially launched. The mbfa began a decline until its acquisition in 1994, which also marked its independence from the niderviller manufacture. Jules wagner, at the origin of the acquisition, is a luxembourger with a proven track record at villeroy & boch. The manufacture becomes the faïencerie de pornic, clearer and simpler for a market more oriented towards export. Tableware is exported to the united states and marks a renaissance for the company.
