1960s Sleeping sofa by Gijs van der Sluis for Gispen, Netherlands

A nice sleeping sofa designed by gijs van der sluis, manufactured by gispen in the netherlands around 1960. This beautiful piece is made of high quality black lacquered metal and has new kvadrat tonica upholstery. The light grey fabric fits the piece perfectly! The seating depth can easily be extended by raising and pulling out the seat, after which it can be used as a sleeping bed. This is an innovative piece and a true icon of dutch mid-century design! The slightly tilted backrest and separate armrest cushion add to the comfortable seating experience for this very modern, timeless piece. It remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
