Sandstone wall plaque by Noomi Backhausen for Søholm Stentøj

The pattern of this sandstone wall plaque is the work of ceramist noomi backhausen (1838-2011), for søholm stentøj, a factory located on the island of bornholm in denmark. In addition to the series that she designed for this factory, in which she worked from 1966 to 1990, we also owe her a large number of stoneware plaques, like this one, where we recognize her colorful, lively touch. And joyful and work on the contrasts between shiny areas and matte areas. The plate is debossed on the reverse with the serial number “3574”, followed by the number “2”, which corresponds to a variation of the pattern. There is also the stamped mark of the factory “søholm stentøj bornholm denmark”. It has a clip on the back which allows it to be hung.
