Description
Napoleon III inlaid liquor cellar. Object of decoration and pleasure of the nineteenth century. The box is made of inlaid wood. The service consists of 4 decanters and 12 crystal glasses. The set, with its decanters, makes it possible to present, at the choice of amateurs, different beverages. The tradition of bourgeois lunches and dinners imposes in the context of intimacy the enjoyment of exceptional liqueurs. We see alcoholic beverages made from plants, such as the famous brands ("cointreau", "grand-marnier", "benedictine", etc.), which compete with the traditional "walnut wines", ratafias, and others. The tasting becomes a pleasure, for the tasting itself more than for the sharing (frank drunkenness, sometimes!) which was the charm of the old "tabagies". Special care is therefore devoted to it, with these storage with precious crystal glasses, in equally neat cases. Material: wood marquetry / crystal. Period: nineteenth century.
