Openwork basket cup in malicorne earthenware by emile tessier - shuttle ring sizer

This lovely ring bowl is made of earthenware from malicorne in bourg-joly, in sarthe. This cup dates from the beginning of the 20th century: it is signed te for emile tessier. Imitating the weaving of basketry, this ceramic is openwork and decorated with a delicate gold highlight. This shuttle-shaped basket is perched on small lion paws and decorated with small movable rings. On a dressing table, it will be a lovely old ring ring. It can be used as a small cup for chocolates or biscuits to accompany tea time. In good general condition, this basket measures 14 cm X 6 cm. It shows traces of use and wear of the gilding in places.
