Description
An excellent art deco period 'queen anne' shaped serving plate for tea time by shelley, england, in a quite rarely found violets pattern dating from the early 1930's. It measures 24 cm wide, 21 cm deep and 2.5 cm high. The pattern comprises a spray of hand painted blue violets with a single green leaf on each of the narrower panels and transfer printed brown field poppies on the broader panels nicely finished with blue rim edging. Backstamp is that of the scripted within shield 'shelley, england' one as applied to the factory's wares during the period 1925-1946 with painted pattern number f 12154 (entered in the factory pattern books in the year 1933) It is in very good condition, just an spot of worn in the centre of the plate.
