Leather travel trunk, from the Viscountess of Bernard, Napoleon III era 1855

This imposing but distinguished leather trunk had the honour of conveying the effects of a viscountess, de bernard, if you want to know everything. The trunk reveals another fact, that announced by the stamp patenting the manufacture of this travel item; it promises "solidity, impermeability, and price reduction". If the price statement is unverifiable, the other two qualities are clear. Here we are almost a century and a half later, and the viscountess' trunk has suffered little from the passage of time. In its juice, it shows no trace of moisture. Leather obviously deserves a makeover, but all the elements of this object are in very good condition. The inner volume is such that anyone of adult build who wants to smuggle himself could indulge in this facet.
