In denmark, back in the 1960-1980s, they were used for "butter boards" so you could put your associated bread on and use it as a base when you had to butter it, so it was a kind of accessory for your main plate. Extremely decorative and graceful. They measure 11 X 11 cm and are about 1.5 cm thick, at the same time they weigh about 450 grams per piece.
