Description
Very common in the early twentieth century, the seltzer water siphon served as a container for sparkling water, used to cut different alcohols, including absinthe. It was in the form of a colored glass bottle, decorated with a logo, silkscreen or text. At the time, it was in bistros, breweries and pharmacies that we find this bottle containing a mixture of tartaric acid powders, baking soda and water. Because of this pressurized liquid and the risk of bursting the bottle, siphons were banned in the mid-1950s – despite the presence of a mesh around some models – remaining since superb decorative objects. Before being made of glass, the siphons were porcelain and particularly used by pharmacists, before the limonadiers offered a glass version, personalized with the name of the brand. The siphon here is a pretty water green color, quite rare, and stamped with the brand lucien lesage dunkerque. A beautiful object that will delight collectors and other lovers of beautiful objects for a unique vintage decoration. In excellent condition (except the metal part which no longer holds fixed on the bottle) it is 34 cm high.
