Bünte und remmler desk lamp model 2608 polo popular. Painted black iron arm and heavy cast iron base. Diagonally cut reflector - aluminum-colored inside and black painted outside. Articulated arm and shade with chrome plated steel ball-and-socket joints. E27 tap socket, power 15-60 watts. Original on/off switch integrated into the bulb socket. Dimensions: height 40 cm; length 30 cm; width 17 cm; reflector diameter 13.5 cm. Weight: 1.9 kg. Produced by bünte und remmler (bur), frankfurt am main. Designed by christian dell. Production period: 1930-1931. During the 1920s and 1930s, bur was one of the rare light manufacturers producing designs from the bauhaus school. The company employed designers as wilhelm wagenfeld and christian dell who created the shape of modern desk lightings as we still know today. Christian dell worked as a master of the metal workshop at the bauhaus in weimar. Beginning in 1926 dell sketched lights and launched his career as an early industrial lighting designer. Among his earliest and most successful models were the polo popular (1929) and rondella (1927/1928) desk lamps. In 1933-34, he started working for the factory gebr. Kaiser & co. Where he created the kaiser idell brand. Restored vintage patina condition: original painting with some light patina and chips, fully re-wired with modern electrical components and black round electric cable 3 X 0.75mm² covered by cotton fabric. Exceptional patina and condition.
