Backless with ankle boots. Large pastel on fine paper, signed by the artist. Dimensions: 60.5 X 45 cm. Work taped to white cardboard measuring 65 X 51 cm. Plan to frame. Paper wrinkled and yellowed by time. Henri matchavariani (born 1939) is a french painter, calligrapher and illustrator, of georgian and romanian origin. He was artistic director in paris and milan. He has produced numerous illustrations for the press (vogue) and billboards, notably for air france. He worked closely with helmut newton on a project for cacharel. His art is guided by the elegance of the line and by gestures made of flights inspired by the orient. His calligraphy traces its path in the footsteps of christian dotremont.
