Description
Beautiful plate of the east india company of the qianlong period, eighteenth century. This hollow porcelain plate, presents very beautiful hand-painted decorations, representing yellow and pink roses, buds and various plants. The outline of the plate is decorated with a purple frieze. The qianlong period in china was a period of cultural development. The arrival of porcelain in europe was linked to the development of navigation and international trade. Porcelain was very popular in europe because of its lightness and durability. The import from china is linked to the lack of mastery of this technique by the europeans. French, dutch and british companies from the east indies brought porcelain to europe.
