Magnificent oil painting on wooden panel representing a wheat field in a countryside landscape. It probably dates from the 40s/50s and is signed l. Santa maria (1887-1970). Leopoldo barthelemy santa maria de obregon was a spanish painter. The work of light, shadows and depth in this landscape with haystacks is breathtaking. It's easy to imagine that we are in the middle of summer, the wheat has just been harvested. In the distance we can see a village, behind abundant vegetation. Handwritten inscription on the back of the painting "n°11". Maybe a number at an exhibition! It is beautifully framed by a gilded wooden frame. Good condition.
